Uni supports student arrivals plan
LA Trobe University has welcomed a State Government plan put forward to the Commonwealth outlining how and when international students will make their way back to Victorian institutions.
If it’s approved by Federal leaders, the first stage of the International Student Arrivals Plan will see 120 places become available each week for pupils to return to the state.
Health, medical and postgraduate research students would be given priority, while the plan’s second stage would include an expanded arrivals pool.
La Trobe vice-chancellor Professor John Dewar said he was excited to see international students back on campuses throughout the state.
“Over these challenging 18 months we have very much missed our international students overseas, who make such an important contribution to our campuses in Melbourne and regional Victoria and to the many communities around them,” he said
“International students returning or commencing at La Trobe this year and next can be assured of a safe and supportive environment, especially as we are aiming to achieve 100 per cent full vaccination rates on our campuses by December.”
