TONI Childs is hitting the stage at the Capital Theatre in mid-February on the first leg of her latest tour, A Retrospective.

The Emmy winner will be performing her greatest hits including Stop Your Fussin’, I’ve Got to Go Now and Don’t Walk Away for the first hour of her show before introducing music from upcoming albums It’s All a Beautiful Noise and Citizens of the Planet in the second half.

Childs said she was excited about the prospect of combining her new music with her hits.

“I like to think of it like this, it’s a two-hour feast and you have desert first,” she said.

“So, the first hour is all the fan favourites and then we take a little break and people can talk about it, and then we go in for the second course and it’s my new stuff.”

A Retrospective tour kicks off what is set to be a busy period for Childs with plans for three new albums and tours in the next 10 years.

“I have three touring productions that I am rolling out this decade,” she said.

“I have three singles that are dropping this year for the first production which is called, It’s All a Beautiful Noise and I am playing those songs in this show.”

It’s not all about the new tunes for Childs, with her past hits that lead to multiple Grammy nominations still meaning a lot to her.

“I love them,” she said. “When I am on stage I am fully present and I am proud of those songs, particularly because they meant so much to so many people.

“The thing I am really proud of is that I had the courage to be super honest and sing about the things that are the most difficult to sing about.”

Toni Childs performs A Retrospective at the Capital Theatre on Saturday, 18 February. Limited tickets are still available via bit.ly/3DCj6Gc.
