Water group offers flood support
WATER provider Goulburn-Murray Water has established a recovery team to offer support for flood-affected communities.
Called the GMW Flood Incident and Recovery Team, the group was established on Monday.
The team will aim to support residents, fix water-damaged infrastructure and assist other groups in their own flood-recovery efforts.
GMW’s general manager of incident and recovery Daniel Irwin said the team is already hard at work.
“Our team has already begun identifying flood-impacted assets and reviewing what works will be needed to repair them as a priority,” he said.
“We’ll be developing interactive maps in the near future so customers will be able to see the impacted assets and the works we’ll be doing to restore them.”
Following statewide flooding, GMW’s Kerang and Rochester centres are closed while standard operating hours have returned for the Tatura, Shepparton, Kyabram and Cobram facilities.
Mr Irwin said GMW customers are welcome to call the organisation to express their support needs.
“We also want our customers to know that we are there to help them through this time. We will work closely with impacted communities over the coming weeks and months,” he said.
As part of the support, GMW has promised to replace any water entitlement statements and records for free with the option of sending records to an alternate address.
