Young professionals talk about careers
THE Bendigo Young Professionals Network will host the second instalment in its Career Conversations program next week.
Following on from last year’s inaugural event at the Rifle Brigade Hotel, the Prioritise Your Wellbeing meeting will feature two key speakers on the subject of personal wellbeing inside and outside the workplace.
It is set to take place at the Bendigo Tennis Centre on Nolan Street.
Speakers will be Gayle Wilson of Soul Care Bendigo and Dean Cosgriff of headspace Bendigo. The event will be facilitated by Be.Bendigo wellbeing support consultant Sharmi Cantwell.
A statement from Be.Bendigo said the session will explore managing work stress at home, symptoms and management of burnout and exhaustion, and where to seek support.
The first Career Conversations event last June focused on the issue of changing jobs and managing the process.
Ms Wilson is a wellbeing mentor and life coach, and headspace is a free youth service that caters to the mental health, physical health, alcohol/drug support and vocational needs of young people aged 12 to 25.
Operating with the support of Be.Bendigo, the YPN was established in 2004 to provide professional networking opportunities for young and career-oriented people in their 20s and 30s.
According to Be.Bendigo, the region’s young professionals are faced with unique challenges and opportunities compared to their counterparts in capital cities.
The network aims to offer informative and fun events specific to young and regional professionals from any industry.
These include social gatherings, workshops or seminars at local venues, with a potential spinoff benefit of social and professional connections, and friendships.
The YPN also provides local organisations with professional development and networking options for their young employees, who can connect with others in the business community, and access others’ knowledge.
The evening will run from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, May 22. Registrations are required and can be made at events.humanitix.com/career-conersations.
