Zenbu a beacon of positivity

JUST across from the Alexandra Fountain lies more than just a clothing and jewellery boutique.

Zenbu has been operating for 30 years, a unique local business offering a range of crystals, giftware and clothing and even tarot card readings.

Angela Clark co-owns Zenbu with her husband and said the store has been growing since its humble beginnings.

“We started off with a smaller shop in Allans Walk that was just clothing, I suppose we’ve evolved as people have asked us for things.”

Ms Clark takes pride in being local and has supported many other businesses over time.

“I have an expo at the courts with all local people who do healings and different things in the community,” she said.

“It’s nice to help support other people trying to get their businesses off the ground.

“I like to support local artists if they’ve got things they’re trying to get on the market, I’ll often take their things and promote them as local.”

Ms Clark said Zenbu has been more popular since the COVID-19 pandemic, as people look for guidance and assurance.

“There was a little bit of a boost in crystals and readings, people are looking for a bit more positivity and something to get them through it,” she said. “People were looking to help themselves.”

“It affected a lot of people staying home. It’s a different world than it was 12 months ago.”

Zenbu is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
