WESTERN Bulldogs father-son prospect Sam Darcy continued his breakout campaign on the weekend, booting six goals for Vic Metro.

The game was an Under-19s trial match against Vic Country and featured some of the top draft candidates, including Nick Daicos and Jason Horne.

Darcy’s athleticism was on full display and he looks likely to cost the Bulldogs big under the points system.

It would mean two top 10 pickups for the Dogs in successive years, following Academy selection Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.

David King wonders if this Western Bulldogs side could turn into a dynasty.

“Let’s just say [Darcy goes] in the top 10, it doesn’t matter what number he is. He’s a bona fide AFL player,” King said on SEN Breakfast.

“They’ve already got last year’s Christmas present they haven’t unwrapped yet in Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.

“They’ve got Aaron Naughton at 21 who looked like Wayne Carey yesterday. He took five contested [marks], six inside 50.

“Marcus Bontempelli is 25, Jack Macrae and Lachie Hunter are 26.

“I think so [they could be a dynasty]. They’re going to have the ability to get the steak-knife type player… a Brian Lake type player. Not that Brian Lake was a steak-knife, but they paid a second-round pick for him, the Hawks. He was the piece they needed to finish off the rest.

“I think at the end of the year, the Dogs are going to be in that position.”

The Bulldogs belted West Coast in Perth by 55 points on Sunday afternoon.

Bontempelli and Naughton combined for seven goals and 13 marks, while Macrae continued his streak of games with 30 or more disposals.
