BENDIGO Junior Football League will introduce a new under-10 girls competition this season.

Hailed as the next step in an already strong and successful female football pathway, the six-week competition will introduce girls to football at a younger age in a modified, competitive, all-girls environment, giving clubs the opportunity to either begin or further strengthen their female football pathways.

In preparation for the competition, AFL Victoria will facilitate a come and try day in the coming months, with all BJFL clubs invited to participate.

To be eligible to play, participants need to have been born in 2016, 2017, 2018, or before April 30, 2019.

For more information about the competition or how to get involved, aspiring players are encouraged to contact their local BJFL club.

The BJFL, which currently runs under-12 and under-15 girls competitions, says it is excited to see the next generation of girls hitting the field.

For details on the come and try day, keep an eye on AFL Central Victoria’s Facebook page.
