THERE will be at least 15 bouts on Saturday night’s Bendigo Boxing Championships #2 at Truscott Reserve in the Borough of Eaglehawk.

Bendigo Fight Centre trainer and fight night promoter Lucas Allen said the tournament would feature three Victorian Amateur Boxing League championships.

“It’s shaping up to be a fantastic night of boxing across lots of weight divisions,” Allen said.

“There’s been a great response by boxers and fans. All gold and silver tables have been sold out.

“This is a great night to showcase Bendigo talent and to support their fights at home.”

Among those vying for a state title will be Bendigo’s Elsie Tuitupou against Finau Finau in the heavyweight division.

Bendigo FC’s Luke McKenzie will face Lachy Frankel for the VABL super welterweight title.

Then there’s 16-year-old Ryan Polglaise from Bendigo up against Jacob Kavanagh in the light heavyweight division.

“A great contest is tipped to be between Jasper Ellis from Bendigo FC against Tyler May who is trained by Gary Austin in Bendigo.

“They are in the catchweight division.”

Bendigo’s Lindon Tuitupou will mark his first amateur bout against Jake Dunston in the cruiserweight division.

Some female bouts are also on the program.

In the super lightweight class it will be Holly Hrihorenko against Denise Renzi, while Reanne Brandie and Una Zheng feature in a superb featherweight contest.

“Some of the biggest cheers will be when Kid Dynamite, aka Zack Bingham takes on Matt Hunt.

“Kid’s been super impressive in training.”

The card also features super welterweight bouts between Jordan Boag against Nick Fiske-Kaly, and Jake Burns against Ted Maher.

Allen said a match was also being sought for Bendigo’s Raul Salisbury.

Doors to Truscott Reserve in Murdock Street will open at 4pm.

First match starts at 5pm. Tickets will be available at the door.
