Borough strives to outbowl Royals
EAGLEHAWK will be striving to break Bendigo’s winning streak in Saturday’s fourth round of premier division bowls in the Bendigo leg of Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields weekend pennant.
The Hawks face a tough task olden Square by seven shots in Eaglehawk on Saturday as Bendigo won all four wins in a 40-shot victory at home against Marong in Friday’s twilight match.
Best result for the Hawks against Square was an 11-shot win by Tony Ellis against Daryl Cheeseman.
Luke Hoskin and Tim Arnold won their matches for Bendigo by 23 and 10 shots.
After ending South Bendigo’s unbeaten run, Bendigo East will be home against Golden Square in Lansell Street.
A two-one record has East in third place as Golden Square is sixth on a one-two tally.
The Daryl Rowley-skipped rink marked a 15-shot win against the David Daws-led rink from South Bendigo.
South Bendigo will be back on home greens to take on Kangaroo Flat.
A Diggers’ line-up which includes Brad Holland, Mitch Sidebottom and Beau Traill will start favourite against the winless Kangaroos.
The Roos will be determined to bounce back after a 53-shot loss in Moama.
On Saturday the Moama Steamers will bring the heat to Marong’s greens.
Moama’s skippers in its latest victory were Kevin Anderson, Cameron Keenan, Travis Kelly and Matt Robertson.
