FIERCE rivals Bridgewater and Mitiamo will go head-to-head in final round of the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football League’s home and away season.

Both teams will be fired up to play well in the lead-up to another finals campaign.

The fourth-placed Bridgewater goes into the contest a win and 12 per cent behind the third-placed Mitiamo.

In round nine it was the Mean Machine which won by 23 points at Mitiamo with Andy Collins, Lachlan Allison, Brayden Stepien, Harry Donegan and Emile Pavlich leading the way.

The Rick Ladson-coached Bridgewater will need to lift after it marked a 20-point win in last Saturday’s away game against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles.

Josh Martyn has passed the 50-goal mark for the Machine and will test Miti’s defence, as will classy onballer/forward Andy Collins.

Mitiamo come off the bye and an 88-point victory over the Eagles on the Superoos’ ground at John Forbes Oval the previous round.

Key players for Mitiamo include Lee Dale, Daniel Mowat, Carl Nicholson, Jay Reynolds, Ross Turner, Ryan Wellington and captain Jarryd Wiegard.

Pyramid Hill is back on home turf at Mitchell Park to take on Inglewood.

The Bulldogs held Newbridge to a single goal last Saturday as Seb Relouw, Dylan Collis, Steven Gunther and Gavin James won plenty of the ball.

It was a vastly improved effort by Inglewood in a 65-76 loss to Bears Lagoon Serpentine on the Blues’ turf at Dissy Machinery Oval.

Last time Bears Lagoon Serpentine and Maiden Gully met it was a scrappy affair, with the Bears eking out a six-point win.

Best for the Darrell Billett-coached Blues against BLS were Charlie McGaw, Tom Kennedy, Luke Matheson and Nathan Angelino.

Calivil United and Newbridge will aim to end the season on a high when they clash at Calivil.

Both were well beaten in the 17th round.

In round nine it was the Luke Freeman-coached Newbridge which beat the Jack Daley-coached Demons by 33 points.

The fifth-placed Bears Lagoon Serpentine will complete preparations for an elimination final showdown by taking on Maiden Gully YCW at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.

In round nine the Bears clawed their way to a one-goal win in the Eagles’ nest at Marist College Bendigo.

Key players for the Bears include Harry Gadsden, Andy Gladman, Miggy Podosky, Darcy Poulter and Josh Walsh.

With the Eagles out of the finals race, coach Wayne Mitrovic will look for big games from the likes of Brayden Aitken, Jessi Lampi, Natnael McLaren, Nathan Murley, Corey Walsh and Damian Wust.

Marong has the bye.
