Bridgewater readies to tackle Bears

BRIDGEWATER will tackle Bears-Lagoon Serpentine in Saturday’s sixteenth round in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL senior footy action.

The Rick Ladson-coached Bridgewater is on home turf for a showdown between fifth and third.

Bridgewater goes into the round eight points behind BLS.

A win will be an enormous lift to Bridgewater’s confidence in the build-up to another finals campaign.

In the run home the Mean Machine takes on the Bears at home, Marong away, and then the bye.

The Mean Machine won a hard-fought contest at Calivil last Saturday by 10 points.

Meanwhile the Justin Laird-coached Bears are on the rebound from a 130-point loss at home to Marong.

In round seven, BLS beat Bridgewater by 40 points.

Newbridge is on home turf at Beck Legal Riverside Oval to take on Inglewood.

The Sam Gale and Daniel Smith-coached Newbridge scored an 11-point win at home against Maiden Gully YCW last Saturday.

Best in Newbridge’s fourth victory of the season were Tyler McLeod, Sam Gale, William Copland and Caleb Sanders.

Big test for the Maroons against an Inglewood team refreshed by the bye.

Inglewood’s latest hit-out ended in a 47-point win against Maiden Gully YCW.

Players to watch for the Darrell Billett-coached Blues include Thomas Kennedy, Gabe Nevins, Keelan Payne and Cody Wright.

Pyramid Hill is back at Mitchell Park to take on Maiden Gully YCW Eagles.

The Nathan Fitzpatrick-coached Bulldogs dominated last Saturday’s clash with Mitiamo to win by 111 points.

Jesse Sheahan kicked eight goals in that contest as Will Perryman added five.

Been a tough run for the Jay McDonald-coached Eagles who are ninth on a 2-11 record.

Calivil United is at home to face Mitiamo.

In round seven the Anthony Dennis-coached Demons won on Mitiamo’s turf at John Forbes Oval by 25 points.

The Demons worked hard to finish within 10 points of Bridgewater last round.

Players to watch for Calivil United include Mitch Avard, Ben Baker, Jack Maher and Cody Thompson.

The Jon Varcoe-coached Superoos will be determined to bounce back after a disappointing result at Pyramid Hill.

The unbeaten and ladder-leading Marong has the bye.
