Bulldogs at home against Steamers

GOLDEN Square is on home greens for this Saturday’s second round clash with Moama in Premier division of the Bendigo leg in Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields weekend pennant.

The showdown between the Bulldogs and Steamers starts at 1.30pm in Wade Street.

It was a confident start to Square’s season as it won on Kangaroo Flat’s greens by 16 shots.

State skipper and Australian representative Dylan Fisher played for the blue and gold last Saturday and will do so again.

The Fisher-skipped rink marked a 23-20 win against the Malcolm McLean-led rink from the Kangaroos.

Moama will be steaming following a 16-shot loss at home to South Bendigo in the opening round.

First-round winners, South Bendigo and Eaglehawk will play on the Diggers’ turf in Palmerston Street, Quarry Hill.

Highs for the Diggers at Moama were wins by Brad Holland, Dale Oddy and Beau Traill by 15, three and two shots.

Eaglehawk rolled into the season by scoring an eight-shot win at home against premier division newcomer, Marong.

Tony Ellis scored a 15-shot win against Robert Day as Hawks’ team-mate Simon Carter won 21-19 against Dean Carter.

It was wins for Marong’s Graeme Fawcett and Mark Dickins.

Marong is home this Saturday to play Bendigo East.

The Magpies from East went down, 2-79 to 16-82 on Bendigo’s greens in Barnard Street.

Kangaroo Flat faces Bendigo on the Roos’ ground in Station Street.

Royals’ skippers Brad Marron, Tim Arnold and Gary Downie marked first-round wins.
