GEELONG coach Chris Scott is unsure when star recruit Jeremy Cameron will make his Cats debut.

Cameron missed Geelong’s shock 12-point round 1 loss to Adelaide on Saturday after re-injuring his hamstring at training.

Scott said the forward’s injury is “nothing severe by any stretch” but the club will take a cautious approach given it’s his second hamstring setback this year.

“He had a little bit of an issue (with the same hamstring) six weeks ago and came back without any problems at all,” Scott said.

“He was through 99 per cent of our preparation when he was tackling a player at training and just felt something. So nothing severe by any stretch.

“We were still thinking the next day that he was 50-50 to play but the scan came back showing something around the site of the previous injury.

“Everyone, including the people who have got their hands on him, we are only really guessing at this stage. It depends how he progresses over the next week or so before we can give an accurate prognosis.

“Being cautious is the obvious path to take.

“I suspect it’s going to be a long and arduous season so to make it harder by taking risks with key players early on seems to me to be a mistake.”

The 2019 Coleman Medallist is almost certain to miss Geelong’s clash against Brisbane at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night.
