Could be facing a major reset?
TIM Watson and Garry Lyon have forecast significant changes at Geelong this off-season.
Assistant coaches Corey Enright and Matthew Knights departed the Cats to St Kilda and West Coast respectively, while Matthew Scarlett also exited the club.
“I think they’ll have to rebuild their whole coaching department if that’s the case,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.
“They are probably talking to people now if that’s the case.
“A major reset, I’m thinking they’re looking at Chris Scott and asking, ‘are you up for a rebuild?’”
Lyon added: “I think there’s going to be a big reset.”
The ageing Cats recently lost their fifth preliminary final since 2013 under coach Chris Scott.
Lyon believes the acquisition of Steve Hocking as the CEO could see a dramatic change within the club.
“Steve Hocking is putting his eyes over that whole organisation from top to bottom,” Lyon said.
“I think the whole football club is going to get a very thorough Steve Hocking makeover.”
Scott has coached Geelong for 11 years, with 10 of his players aged 30 or over on the 2021 playing list.
He comes out contract next year.
