Demons aim to derail Machine again

CALIVIL United will aim to derail Bridgewater for a second time this season when they meet in Saturday’s fourteenth round of the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football League.

The Demons stunned the Mean Machine in a 59-43 victory at Bridgewater in round five.

After a bye, Calivil United marks a return to its turf at Calivil to tackle its fourth-placed opponent.

A win is a must for Bridgewater as it strives for a top-three finish and double chance at finals time.

Harry Donegan, Josh Martyn, Lachlan Allison and Callum Prest are among the best in the Machine’s squad.

In last Saturday’s play, Calivil United fought from 27 points down at the start of the final quarter at John Forbes Oval in Mitiamo to almost beat the Superoos.

At the final siren, Mitiamo led 78-73 on a day where Superoos’ star Lucas Matthews marked the 400th match of his senior footy career.

The Superoos’ focus moves to another home game against Inglewood.

Key players for the Marcus McKern-coached Mitiamo include Luke Lougoon and Jack Vinnicombe in defence, Lee Dale, Lachlan and Nathan Twigg, and Daniel Mowat.

The Eagles have won their past two games as Corey Walsh, Jessi Lampi, Brayden Aitken, Jason Butty, Natnael McLaren and Damian Wust have led the way for the Wayne Mitrovic-coached team.
