Diggers to play under East’s lights

ROUND three action for premier teams in the Bendigo leg of Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields bowls starts with two twilight matches on Friday.

Match of the round status goes to the showdown in Bendigo East’s Lansell Street where the Magpies face the ladder-leading and unbeaten South Bendigo from 5.30pm.

The Diggers scored a 16-80 to 2-77 victory in last Saturday’s home game against Eaglehawk.

A highlight was an 11-shot win for the Brad Holland-skipped rink against Phil Godkin.

The fourth-placed Bendigo East struck back from a first-round defeat to record a 16-83 to 2-70 win on Marong’s greens.

Biggest margin for the Pies was a 16-shot win by Lee Schraner against Graeme Fawcett.

The Marong rink skipped by Dean Carter-defeated Daryl Rowley by 11 shots.

Marong’s bowlers make their way to Bendigo Bowling Club in Barnard Street for Friday’s match which starts at 6pm.

The trek for Bendigo to Kangaroo Flat ended in a 16-93 to 2-82 victory.

The Luke Hoskin-skipped rink won by 23 shots as Brad Marron fought on to the Roos’ team led by Barry Hogan by two shots.

Reigning premier Moama is back home to play Kangaroo Flat from 1.30pm on Saturday.

The Steamers won the clash at Golden Square by 17 shots on a day where Cameron Keenan’s rink marked a 27-9 win against Andrew Brown.

Fierce rivals in any sport, Eaglehawk and Golden Square clash on the Borough’s turf in Simpson’s Road from 1.30pm.

It’s sixth against third as both teams have a one-one record
