Dodgers top of the table
THE Strathfieldsaye Dodgers have come out of the recent Bendigo Baseball Association grand finals with a five-out-of-six-game success rate.
Coach of the club’s division one team Brett Ritchie said he “absolutely” believed the club would do so well this season.
“It’s been really good, we got to play a lot of young kids as well,” he said.
“It was mainly just hitting and running really, scoring as many runs as possible, and we knew we were good enough to hold the other teams to lower scores.
“All of our nine players [per team] managed to hit most weeks.
“The plan is to do it again, hopefully this time we can win all six, the only one we missed out on was Under 12.”
Ritchie said the club’s success had a lot to do with the support of volunteers.
“We just get to play, and they do everything else. You don’t get a trophy for it at the end,” he said.
