IN what has to be the shock of the Bendigo Netball League A Grade season so far, Sandhurst put Kangaroo Flat to the sword in semi finals action.

The two sides had been neck-and-neck all season, but that didn’t count for much as the Dragons came away with a 26 to 65 victory after the Roos has a week’s rest going into the second semi final on Saturday.

The two sides finished the regular season on the same points and were only separated by percentage.

Kangaroo Flat secured the top place finish after Sandhurst were defeated by a goal at Castlemaine in the final home and away game.

Speaking of the Magpies, their season came to an end thanks to Gisborne in a close 51-48 goal game in the first semi final played on Sunday.

The weekend’s results mean Sandhurst has booked a place in the grand final on Saturday, 17 September.

They’ll have to wait on the outcome of Kangaroo Flat’s preliminary final matchup with Gisborne this Saturday to see who they’ll meet in the premiership match.
