Grand final rematch in round two
A REMATCH of grand finalists Marong and Pyramid Hill highlights round two of this year’s Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL senior footy action.
It’s a new-look Marong team being jointly coached by Kain Robins and Paul Thomson which will take to Malone Park against the Bulldogs on April 12.
Marong’s quest for a fourth premiership in a row starts on Inglewood’s turf on April 5 as Pyramid Hill makes its way to Newbridge’s Riverside Oval.
Another big match in the season opener will be at Bridgewater where the Mean Machine tackles Bears Lagoon Serpentine.
It was a one-point thriller which went Bridgewater’s way in last September preliminary final against the Bears.
Anzac weekend on April 26 will include the showdown between Maiden Gully YCW and Newbridge at Marist College Oval.
A big test for Bridgewater and new coach Lachlan Sharp will be in the fourth round at home against Marong.
The Mean Machine’s run in 2024 was ended by Marong in the preliminary final.
In the same round, Bears Lagoon-Serpentine will be in the den against Pyramid Hill.
Determined to hit back from a win-loss tally of 4-12 last season, Inglewood will be on home turf against the Luke Lougoon-coached Mitiamo in round five.
On the same day, Marong takes on Bears Lagoon-Serpentine.
Elimination finalist last season, Newbridge takes on Pyramid Hill in round one and then tackles Maiden Gully YCW, Inglewood, Calivil United and Mitiamo.
The Maroons will eye a great chance to take the points in at least four of those matches.
Calivil United starts the season at home against Maiden Gully YCW.
The Demons and Eagles will be desperate to improve on win tallies of five and four.
Finals action kicks off August 16 when qualifying finals will be played.
Grand finals will be on September 6.
