Hawks face test on Square’s ground
EAGLEHAWK faces a big challenge at Golden Square in Sunday’s second round of the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy season.
The Hawks make their way to Golden Square’s ground in Wade Street for a 1pm showdown.
Both teams won their first matches of the ’25 campaign.
Golden Square scored 34 goals in last Sunday’s match against Bendigo Thunder at Weeroona Oval.
A formidable attack for the Kellie Dadds and Carly Geary-coached Golden Square includes Kody Jacques, Sarah Mannes, Emma Crossland and Liz Watkins.
Eaglehawk marked a 67-8 win against White Hills in Friday night’s match at Canterbury Park in the Borough.
Best for the Molly Metcalf-coached Hawks were Lilly Jenkins, Chloe Green, Kelly Mensforth and Eliza Long.
Sandhurst takes on Castlemaine at Ewing Park in Bendigo’s Williamson Street from 1pm.
Defensive intensity for the Andrew Saladino and Liam Ireland-coached Sandhurst will have to be high.
The Jordan Cochrane-coached Castlemaine started its quest for a fourth consecutive premiership by scoring a 167-point win on North Bendigo’s ground at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street.
Players to watch for Castlemaine include Brianna Burt, Ella and Tiahna Cochrane, and Jemma Finning.
The Dragons’ squad includes Ruby and Annie Campbell, Amanda Carrod, Chelsea Reeves, Chloe Swatton and Chloe Taylor.
Marong takes on Bendigo Thunder from 1pm at Jackal Oval in Malone Park.
The Mick McInnes-coached Thunder will be determined to bounce back from defeat.
Marong is being coached by Jimmy Evenden and Daniel Bourke.
North Bendigo and White Hills have a bye.
