Hawks tackle Bulldogs in Borough

EAGLEHAWK tackles Golden Square in this Saturday’s penultimate round of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL season and it’s third against second at Canterbury Park.

When these clubs met in round eight it was Golden Square which fought on for a 70-67 victory and both teams are in great form rolling into what could be a qualifying final prelude.

Eaglehawk dominated last Saturday’s match at Kyneton to win by 87 points with the loss ending the Tigers’ run at the finals.

Players to watch for the Hawks include ruckman Connor Dalgleish, Billy Evans, Lewin Davis and Noah Wheeler.

The Two Blues line-up includes the Geary brothers, Jarryn and Kallen and the Travis Matheson-coached Hawks will also be trying to snap Golden Square’s 12 game winning streak.

A formidable line-up in the blue and gold coached by Christian Carter includes Joel Brett, Jack Geary, Ricky Monti, Tom Toma, Jake Thrum and Braydon Vaz.

Gisborne is back on home turf at Gardiner Reserve to take on South Bendigo.

The Bulldogs have 2022 premiership-winning coach Rob Waters back in charge and appointed as coach for next season.

Gisborne beat the Bloods in round eight, but face a tough task in stopping South Bendigo forwards Brock Harvey and Steven Stroobants who kicked 10 and seven goals in last Saturday’s win against Maryborough.

Strathfieldsaye Storm return home to Triple M Park on Tannery Lane to take on Maryborough.
