EAGLEHAWK was too good for South Bendigo in their Good Friday matchup in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football League.

Both teams were seeking redemption from first-round defeat as they took to the Hawks’ turf at Canterbury Park.

While the Bloods led 21-20 at quarter-time, it was the Travis Matheson-coached Eaglehawk which dominated most of the centre clearances, stoppages and showed it had plenty of attacking options.

The Borough scored 16.6 to 6.9 across the next three quarters to complete a 122-66 victory.

Darcy Richards was often on the end of some great passes or marked strongly in contests on his way to match-high six goals.

Corey Roberts and Ben Thompson chipped in with three goals apiece and Kobe Lloyd added two.

While the Hawks showed they had plenty of goalscoring options the same could not be said for the Bloods.

A tally of 9.12 showed South Bendigo did rack up quite a share of forward 50 meter entries, but the only player to score multiple goals for the red and white was Brock Harvey on four.

The Nathan Horbury-coached Bloods were held up by gun full-forward Kaiden Antonowicz absence.

Best for the Two Blues were Noah Wheeler, Joel Mullen and Kobe Lloyd.

Key defender Oscar Madden played another crucial role for the Hawks, as did Richards and classy onballer and former Brisbane Lion, Billy Evans.

On a tough afternoon for the Bloods it was last season’s club champion and onballer Cooper Leon who was again his team’s best.

Meanwhile Liam Byrne won plenty of the ball and Michael Herlihy also played well.

In defence, Andrew van Heumen worked hard against the odds, and Brock Harvey did likewise in the Bloods’ attack.
