Hoppers wary of revitalised Demons
COLBINABBIN will be wary of a revitalised White Hills line-up when they clash in the fourth round of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League’s senior footy season.
After a 0-2 start, White Hills fired up to beat North Bendigo in last Saturday’s match in the Demons’ den at Scott Street.
The Jack Fallon-coached While Hills will be confident of putting in a strong showing on the Grasshoppers’ turf at Colbinabbin’s M. J. Morgan Reserve.
Best for the Demons in their win against the Dogs were Rhys Irwin, Mitch Walsh, Bayden Fallon and Patrick Eefiting.
A talented squad includes Mitch Dole, Cohen Kekich, Patrick Eefting, Ben Bacon, Gavin Bowles, Brady Childs and David Wright.
The unbeaten Colbinabbin won both home games against Elmore and North Bendigo.
The Hoppers were under pressure from Elmore in their second meeting in a month, but fought on to win through the play of Jed Brain, Luke Moore, ruckman Hadleigh Sirett and William Lowe.
An attack that includes James Brain, Clint Shields and Stephen Tuohey will test the Demons.
Stars for Colbo include Laine Fitzgerald, Todd Clarke and Thomas Hill.
The in-form Mount Pleasant takes on Leitchville-Gunbower at Toolleen.
Mounts dominated the second half of the clash at Heathcote to win by 51 points as Ben Weightman, Billy Mahony, Jesse Tuohey and gun ruckman Chris Down led the way.
Players to watch for the Blues include Adam Baird, Zane Keighran, ruckman/forward Mitch Bennett, and forward Dean Tydell who missed the Saints clash.
After a one-point win at Huntly to start its season, Leitchville Gunbower was outgunned by Lockington Bamawm United.
Key players for the Tim Bannan-coached Bombers include ruckman Jobee Warde, Tom Brereton, Blake Azzopardi, Nathan McLellan and Thomas Guerra.
LBU hosts a rested Huntly at Lockington.
The Cats are likely to have too much run and scoring power for the Hawks.
Recruited from Echuca, Ben Fulford kicked seven goals in LBU’s win against the Bombers at Gunbower.
A star-studded team includes Tyler Phillips, Brodie Collins, Anthony McMahon, Riley McIvor, Lachlan Atherton and Nathan Bacon.
Huntly coach Stacy Fiske will look for big games from the likes of Jaydon Cowling, Jay McDonald, Tyler Miles, Orion Downing, Connor Aldous and Tori Ferguson.
North Bendigo and Heathcote have a rest this Saturday.
The Bulldogs beat the Saints, 118-108 in the season opener on April 2 at Hibo Hotel Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.
Elmore has the bye.
