Machine charges into Pyramid territory

THE second-placed Bridgewater will aim to outrun Pyramid Hill in Saturday’s fifth round of senior footy in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL season.

Pyramid Hill has home-ground advantage at Mitchell Park as fifth takes on second at 2.15pm.

It’s leg two in a tough run for the Nathan Fitzpatrick-coached Pyramid Hill which was beaten by 42 points in last Saturday’s clash on Marong’s turf at Malone Park.

Marong led by 11 points at quarter-time and slammed on 6.2 to 1.3 in the second to seize control of the annual Michael Herrick Memorial Match in the den.

The play of Steven Gunther, Gavin James, Dylan Morison, Billy Micevski, Scott Mann and Declan Slingo will be crucial for Pyramid Hill against Bridgewater.

The Rick Ladson-coached Mean Machine bounced back from a 33-point loss at Inglewood the previous round to beat Newbridge by 46 points at Bridgewater.

Captain Josh Martyn led the attack on four goals as Ben Irvine and Nicholas Naughton chipped in with three each.

Players to watch in the red and white include Charlton Hindle, Emile Pavlich, Jack Symons and Darcy Wood.

Inglewood is chasing three wins in a row as it meets Maiden Gully YCW Eagles at Dissy Machinery Oval.

The Darrell Billett-coached Blues won at Mitiamo’s John Forbes Oval by 123 points as Charlie McGaw, Sam Dorevitch, Fergus Payne and Tom Kennedy dominated.

The Eagles had the bye after a nine-goal win against Mitiamo in round three.

Key players for the Jay McDonald-coached Eagles include Hamish McCartney, Nathan Murley and Josh Worsley.

Newbridge is on home turf at Holloway Air Riverside Oval to take on Mitiamo.

The Maroons made a great start at Bridgewater, but not could not maintain the rage.

Key players for Newbridge include Angus Fortune, Caleb Argus, Dylan Stevens and Aidan Moore.

The Jon Varcoe-coched Mitiamo will look to Luke Lougoon, Andrew Cussen and Ross Turner to lead the way.

Calivil United is home to take on the Linton Jacobs-coached Marong.

The Anthony Dennis-coached Demons played well to finish with seven points off BLS in the Bears’ den.

Bears-Lagoon Serpentine has the bye.
