THE Bendigo Strikers have announced the new coaches of its youth team.

Bendigo Football Netball League A Grade coaches Jayden Cowling and Tarryn Rymer will head the 23 and Under team in its first season next year.

Cowling will be head coach and has represented both Victoria and Australia in netball for the past 10 years.

He has experience as an A Grade coach at Kangaroo Flat Football Netball Club and the Bendigo Football Netball League representative program, as well as coaching for the Netball Victoria Talent Academy and the North Central Region 17 and Under team.

“I am so excited to be part of this inaugural season of Strikers to assist the youth of our region reach their full potential,” said Cowling.

“Having access to amazing coaches like Carol and Tracey will also assist me to further develop my coaching skills which excites me.”

Rymer has spent nine years overseeing the Gisborne 17 and Under program and said she’s passionate about working with young athletes.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity,” she said.

“Getting to work with Jayden to encourage our netballers to learn, develop new skills and tactical knowledge, whilst being in an elite environment is something I can’t wait to be involved in.”

Athlete selection for the Strikers’ inaugural 2024 squads continued last weekend, and both the 23 and Under and Championship division teams will soon be announced.

“We are pumped to have coaches of this calibre lead our 23 and Under program,” said Bendigo Strikers interim board member Ben DeAraugo.

“Both Jayden and Tarryn have demonstrated their desire to continually take up challenges and improve themselves as coaches.

“We can’t wait to get preseason underway.”
