Mounts aim to stop Bulldogs’ run
MOUNT Pleasant will be fighting to stop North Bendigo’s unbeaten run in Saturday’s tenth round of senior footy in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL season.
The Mount’s line-up which is coached by on-field stars Adam Baird and Ben Weightman has home ground advantage at Toolleen for the match of the day.
The Rob Bennett-coached North Bendigo kicked off the first of eight wins across the first half of the season in a 69-63 result at Hibo Hotel Oval in the first round.
The Bulldogs had to work incredibly hard to score a 26-point win at Elmore last round as Mounts was beaten by eight points at Lockington.
Key players for Mounts include Will Wallace, Zebb Murrell and Riley McNamara while top ruckman Chris Down did not play against LBU.
In-form players for the Bulldogs include wingman Nic Waterson, Jake Hall, Dylan Klemm and Riley Paetow.
Another important match will be at Winslow Constructors Oval in Scott Street, White Hills where the Demons take on Leitchville Gunbower.
The White Hills has moved to the third rung on the ladder, while Leitchville Gunbower will be desperate for the points to keep the heat on the fifth-placed Lockington Bamawm United.
The Shannon Keam-coached Bombers have won their past two games.
The second-placed Heathcote is at home again at Barrack Reserve to take on Colbinabbin and the Andrew Saladino-coached Saints won on the Grasshoppers’ ground by 33 points in the opening round.
Meanwhile, Elmore is on home turf to take on Huntly.
The Bloods’ pressure across the first half was superb as it held a 27-24 lead against North Bendigo at half-time of last Saturday’s match.
Jointly coached by Dylan Friedberger and Mick Woolhouse, Elmore will be confident of marking its third win of the season while the Huntly Hawks are yet to win in 2023.
Lockington Bamawm United has the bye.
