Pair claim Bathurst with dominant victory
CHAZ Mostert has claimed his second Bathurst 1000 driving to add the 2021 great race alongside Lee Holdsworth.
The Walkinshaw Andretti United duo were dominant throughout, despite Mostert being forced into pit lane in lap 49 with a tyre problem.
While they dropped to 12th position following the incident, Mostert was able to regain the lead with a significant advantage by his next pit.
Although the pair were forced back to the pack due to several safety cars thereafter, a faultless drive ensured Mostert ended up more than three seconds ahead of next best Cameron Waters and James Moffat at the end of the 161st lap.
Mostert, 29, had a weekend to remember at Mount Panorama after he set the lap record in the Top 10 Shootout to claim pole position on the Saturday.
It’s Mostert’s second Bathurst title after he won alongside Paul Morris for Ford Performance Racing in 2014.
Holdsworth’s best result in a previous Bathurst 1000 was in 2009 when he finished third alongside Michael Caruso.
