Pies, Steamers roll into vital double

BENDIGO East and Moama will play on consecutive days in this weekend’s Premier Division action in Bendigo’s leg of the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields pennant bowls.

The Magpies will be keen to take the points at Moama when they swoop on the Steamers’ greens from 4pm on Friday.

East’s line-up includes Aaron Tomkins, James McGillivray, Paul Vlamenick and Marc Smith.

In its latest hit-out, Bendigo East went down to South Bendigo by four shots under lights at the Lansell Street-based club.

Moama won a thrilling fourth round match at Eaglehawk as Kevin Anderson, Travis Kelly and Cameron Keenan skipped winning teams.

The match between fifth and sixth will complete the fifth round.

On Saturday, Bendigo East is back home to play from 1.30pm.

The Pies take on a Kangaroo Flat line-up which marked a 23-shot win at home against Eaglehawk last round.

Roos’ skipper Brad Marron marked a 23-shot victory last Saturday.

The winless Inglewood makes its way across to Moama.

Top teams South Bendigo and Bendigo meet in the clash of second and first on the Diggers’ ground in Palmerston Street.

In round five, Bendigo won 16-84 to 2-66 at Inglewood.

The Royals team includes Brayden Byrne, Luke Hoskin and Ian Ross.

South Bendigo won all four rinks in a 92-53 victory against Golden Square last Saturday.

Premier League standings are Bendigo 82 points +122 shots, South Bendigo 65 +35, Kangaroo Flat 52 +55, Golden Square 47 -12, Moama 37 +4, Bendigo East 26 -23, Eaglehawk 23 -47 and Inglewood 10 -134.
