Pioneers forward impresses in Victoria Country under-18 win against Allies
VICTORIA Country have secured their first win of the under-18 Boys Championship, beating the Allies at Ikon Park on Saturday.
After losing their first two matches of the tournament, Country got their campaign going and handed the Allies their second loss, winning 11.16 (82) to 10.10 (70).
Cody Walker (Echuca) was again the sole Bendigo Pioneer to suit up for the game.
Named in the forward pocket, Walker gathered 24 disposals, the third-most on the ground. He also took seven marks.
For the Allies, Lachlan Carmichael racked up 33 disposals, whilst Jack Miler kicked three goals in their narrow defeat.
Victoria Country have one game to play in the tournament; against cross-state rivals Victoria Metro. That match will be played at RSEA Park on July 20 at 12 noon.
Aside from Walker, there is one other Pioneer on the Victoria Country under-18 squad; Hunter Wright (Golden Square).
