STAKES are high as Eaglehawk strives to break a winless streak in this Saturday’s tenth round of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL senior footy action.

The Hawks are again on home turf at Canterbury Park to take on South Bendigo.

In the past four weeks Eaglehawk has endured defeats by margins of three, one and three points, and then drew last Saturday’s clash with the unbeaten Sandhurst in the borough.

The Travis Matheson-coached Eaglehawk has now fallen to the fifth rung on the ladder, but is a win and more than 110 per cent clear of sixth-placed Kyneton.

South Bendigo has climbed to the third rung and the Nathan Horbury-coached team will fight to stay there and hold a double chance at finals time.

When these clubs met in round one, Eaglehawk scored a 10-point win at the Bloods’ new home at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington.

Last season’s grand finalists, Strathfieldsaye and Gisborne clash on Storm’s ground at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane.

Storm’s hot form kept rolling as it thrashed Kyneton by 16 goals last Saturday.

Gisborne also broke its losing streak in a 204-point triumph on home turf at Gardiner Reserve against Maryborough.

The Darryl Wilson-coached Storm won by two goals at Gisborne in the season’s opening round.

Kyneton is back at Kyneton Showgrounds to take on Golden Square and the Paul Chapman-coached Tigers will be snarling after such a big loss to Storm.

Win and the yellow and black stays in touch with the top five, yet it’s a daunting task for Kyneton against a powerful Golden Square line-up.

It’s a mischief of Magpies as Castlemaine hosts Maryborough at Camp Reserve.

The sole victory for the Brendan Shepherd-coached Castlemaine in the first half of the season was the 37-26 result at Maryborough’s Princes Park in round one.

The Coby Perry-coached Maryborough will be determined to mark a breakthrough victory.

Kangaroo Flat is back home at Dower Park to take on Sandhurst and in round one the Nathan Johns-coached Kangaroos took it right up to Sandhurst with the Ash Connick and Bryce Curnow-coached Dragons fighting on for a 49-41 victory.
