HEATHCOTE is set to welcome the ladder-leading Lockington Bamawm United in this Saturday’s eleventh round of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football League.

The Saints have home-ground advantage at Barrack Reserve for the showdown, and Andrew Saladino’s side has a five and four record, good enough for fifth place after a hard-fought victory away to Huntly in round 10.

Key players for the Saints include Codie Price, Jackson Jones, Mitch McLean and Jackson Conforti.

Lockington Bamawm United dominated its home game against White Hills to win by 85 points as Thomas Leech, Charlie Hinks, Lachlan Atherton and Tyler Phillips led the way for the Brodie Collins-coached team.

Leitchville-Gunbower faces Huntly at Leitchville and the sole victory for the Bombers was in round two when it won 84-83 against the Hawks.

On that day, Blake Azzopardi kicked seven goals in Tim Bannan’s first match in charge of the Bombers.

The Bombers are refreshed by the bye and will look for big games from Billy Hawken, Jobee Warde, Tom Brereton and Ayden Walton.

The Stacy Fiske-coached Huntly almost broke its season duck against the Saints as Jake Maher, Harrison Campbell, Tyler Miles and Jay McDonald were best.

Elmore and North Bendigo clash on the Bloods’ turf at Elmore.

The Bloods worked hard to be within 28 points of Mount Pleasant at three quarter-time, but went down by 53 on the Toolleen ground.

Key players for Elmore include Kyle Armstrong, Darcy and Zac Laffy, Regan Williams and co-coach and ruckman/forward Dylan Gordon.

North Bendigo broke Colbinabbin’s unbeaten run as the Bulldogs goaled in the final minute through Sean Moyle to clinch a 91-86 victory.

Players to watch for the Bulldogs include key defender Shane Harris, ruckman Jeremy Lambden, Jordan Ford, Dylan Klemm and Aarryn Craig.

White Hills faces another big test against Mount Pleasant in the Demons’ den at Scott Street.

The Demons were held to just two goals at Lockington in a match where James Davies, Nicholas Wallace, Patrick Eefting and Doolan Nihill were best for the team in red and black.

It’s a powerful Mounts’ attack which had Mitchell Bennett kick six goals in the win against Elmore.

Ben Weightman was best afield in the Blues’ latest victory as ruckman Chris Down, Jesse Tuohey and Bryce Hinneberg won plenty of contests.

Colbinabbin has the bye.
