The Sports Star of the Year across 2020 and 2021, Herbert will make a major announcement at the 7 December event at Red Energy Arena in West Bendigo.

Herbert carded 11 under to be equal seventh after last Sunday’s finish to the $2 million Fortinet Australian PGA at Royal Brisbane.

Another multiple finalist in Sports Star, Andrew Martin ended his latest PGA hit-out at 1-under and equal 54th after rounds of 70, 71, 68 and 74.

Next up for Herbert is the Australian Open which began yesterday in Sydney with the four-day showdown being played at The Australian and The Lakes courses.

Herbert was 10th in last year’s Australian Open in Melbourne.

Not only is the golfing ace a Sports Star of the Year winner, but also a Cyril Michelsen Trust Fund recipient.

It’s the final sponsors function for Sports Star this year and will run from 6pm until 7.30pm.

Several of this year’s scholarship recipients will be there, along with October finalist Jill Wilkie, the world marathon champion for the 55-59 years class.

The Sports Star of the Year gala function will be held in February at the All Seasons International.

Nominations for the Bendigo Bank community award; John Forbes coach/manager award; Fosterville Gold Mine healthy school award; and Bendigo Health young Indigenous award are being accepted.
