Steamers, Bulldogs bowl for premiership glory
MOAMA and Golden Square will again clash to decide who’s number one in Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields premier division weekend pennant bowls on Sunday.
The Steamers and Bulldogs showdown will be played from 1.30pm at North Bendigo Bowls Club in Fenton Street.
A year ago it was Moama which capped a remarakable season by beating the blue and gold in the decider.
This season’s meetings stand at two-nil in favour of the reigning premiers.
When they met in round two it was Moama which rolled to a 25-shot victory on Golden Square’s greens.
Four shots separated them at the end of the round nine clash in Moama.
The Steamers only defeat was a 22-shot loss to Bendigo in the 14th round at White Hills.
Moama struck back a week later to win the second semi-final against Bendigo at Eaglehawk by 20 shots.
A nine-five run across the home-and-away series meant Golden Square was third rolling into the finals.
The Bulldogs won the first semi-final against South Bendigo by 55 shots and then outplayed Bendigo in last Saturday’s preliminary final to claim a 30-shot win.
Moama’s skippers in the second semi-final were Kevin Anderson, Cameron Keenan, Alex Marshall and Matt Robertson.
Golden Square’s skippers in the big win against the Royals were Andrew Brown, Nathan Lynch, Alex Skilton and Bryce Young.
Grand finals for seven other divisions will be played on Saturday from 1.30pm.
Eight clubs are represented in the season deciders.
Kangaroo Flat has five teams vying for premiership glory.
