Steamers fire up for big weekend

MOAMA Steamers face a tough run in this weekend’s round of Premier division action in Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields pennant bowls.

The Steamers make their way to Bendigo East for Friday night’s match to complete the seventh round.

Play on the Magpies’ greens in Lansell Street starts at 5.30pm.

Moama will be back in Bendigo on Saturday to play at South Bendigo from 1.30pm in a round eight showdown.

It’s the final round before the Christmas-New Year break.

The Diggers went down 2-73 to 16-80 in last Saturday’s home game against Marong.

After starting the season with three consecutive defeats, Marong is on a three-game winning streak and has jumped to third place in the premiership race.

Last season’s division one premier, Marong is back at home this Saturday to take on Eaglehawk at 1.30pm.

It’s a crucial clash for the Hawks who start the round in seventh place at +24 shots, 58 points.

The Two Blues scored a 31-shot win at Kangaroo Flat last round.

Golden Square will be back home to take on Kangaroo Flat.

The Bulldogs marked Friday night’s first home game under lights by ending in a 9-80 draw with Bendigo.

The finale to the day’s play starts at 3.30pm when Bendigo East faces Bendigo.
