THE Bendigo and District Table Tennis Association is hosting a number of programs encouraging people of all ages and ability to get involved in the sport.

A program for new and novice players runs every Thursday evening and juniors go every Friday evening at the newly upgraded Eaglehawk Badminton and Table Tennis Stadium.

President of the association Gary Warnest is thrilled to have the stadium open for the public after a tough last year.

“During the last 12 months with COVID, we haven’t been able to have our stadium open and as well as that a lot of people have got out of the habit of participating in sport,” he said.

“We’re an active community asset and we’d like to play our role in encouraging not only juniors but local residents to become active in a sport that is a fantastic sport open to men and women of all ages and all abilities.

“We’ve got a fabulous stadium, 12 tables set up all the time, and we’d really like to encourage anybody at whatever age group to come along.”

Mr Warnest said the newly updated facility is designed to attract people from across the community.

“We’ve just upgraded our stadium to LED lighting, we have Olympic standard sports flooring, world quality tables. The facilities we have are amazing and we’d like to share those with the public.”
