THE ladder-leading Lockington Bamawm United tackles the second-placed Colbinabbin in this Saturday’s seventeenth round of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football League season.

The Cats have home-ground advantage at Lockington against the Grasshoppers.

In round eight, Colbo dominated at M.J. Morgan Reserve to win 81-34.

Skip forward to last weekend and the Grasshoppers fought back from a 27-point deficit at half-time in their clash with Huntly to win by 15 points as Matt Riordan, Jed Brain and Jimmy McMurtrie led the way.

LBU’s best in the win at North Bendigo included ruckman Tyler Phillips, Lachlan Atherton, and a game-high five goals by Anthony McMahon.

Third and fourth on the ladder, Mounts and North Bendigo will play on the Blues’ turf at Toolleen.

A win for Mounts would seal its third place and double chance for the finals as the Bulldogs have a bye in the final, and 18th, round.

Key players for the Blues include Chris Down, Adam Baird, Ben Weightman, Billy Mahony and Jesse Tuohey.

Victory is a must for the Bulldogs to have any chance of climbing into the top three, but they would need Colbinabbin to beat the Blues a week later.

The Dogs will look to Jeremy Lambden, Jordan Ford and Dylan Klemm to have a big impact in this contest.

The round eight contest between the Blues and Bulldogs ended in a one-point victory for North Bendigo at Hibo Hotel Oval.

Mounts go into this game after the bye, while the Dogs aim to hit back from a 38-point loss at home to Lockington Bamawm United.

Leitchville-Gunbower is on home turf to take on a White Hills line-up that has gained fifth place and desperate to stay there.

The Bombers were beaten by 25 points at Elmore last Saturday as White Hills scored a seven-point win at home against Heathcote.

Best for the Jack Fallon-coached White Hills in such a crucial contest were Mitch Dole, James Davies, Ryan Walker and Bayden Fallon.

Huntly and Elmore clash on the Hawks’ turf at Huntly’s Strauch Reserve.

The Stacy Fiske-coached Hawks put in a superb first-half at Colbinabbin last round as Mitch Christensen, Steve Kairn, Jayden Cordy and Harrison Campbell were best for the brown and gold.

Elmore marked its third win of the season as captain Nic Kellow, Tyler Amor Beale, Hayden Trewick and Sam McHale were best for the Bloods against the Bombers.

Heathcote has the bye.
