Eaglehawk leads the division one premiership race on 59 points from Diamond Valley, 46; Essendon, 36; and Western, 33.

ROUND seven in Athletics Victoria’s Shield League on Saturday will include a twilight meet being run by Athletics Bendigo at Lar Birpa in Flora Hill.

Action at the Retreat Road complex will start at 6pm.

It’s a crucial leg of competition as clubs pursue Shield League glory.

Eaglehawk leads the division one premiership race on 59 points from Diamond Valley, 46; Essendon, 36; and Western, 33.

The Hawks have used their PowerPlay in which they doubled their points tally from that round.

Diamond Valley is the only club in the top four yet to flick the PowerPlay switch.

A strong squad for Eaglehawk includes Catherine Monahan, Cooper Richardson, Terry Hicks, and Dave Chisholm.

A tally of 22 points has South Bendigo in eighth place on the premier ladder.

Top performers for the Bloods have been Kai Norton, Jordyn Lewis and Joan Self.

Bendigo Harriers has scored 28 points to be sixth in the division three title race led by Preston and Yarra Ranges on 44.

In division five, Echuca Moama is well in contention for promotion as it has scored 49 points in a race led by Brunswick, 59, and Mansfield, 50.

Bendigo University has racked up 32 points to be in sixth place.

Track disciplines to be run at Bendigo’s meet will be 1500m or 3000m walk, 100m, 1500m and 400m.

The field program is shot put, javelin, triple jump and pole vault.

A non-scoring 3000m run and 4 x 100m relay is also on the program.
