Victoria Country have concluded their under-18 Boys Championship campaign with a win against cross-state rivals Victoria Metro on Sunday.

Their second consecutive win makes it two from four for the tournament, in a game where they led at each break to cruise to a 14.10 (94) to 9.10 (64) victory at RSEA Park.

Cody Walker (Echuca) was joined by Hunter Wright (Golden Square) in suiting up for the Big V.

Walker, who is the son of Carlton legend Andrew, recently nominated the Blues as his club of choice for next year’s National Draft.

He was one of Country’s best, kicking a goal from 24 disposals and seven marks.

Meanwhile, Wright had two clearances from his 11 disposals lining up in the forward line.

For Victoria Metro, midfielder Jack Dalton collected 27 disposals and 10 tackles, whilst Adam Sweid and Ollie Greeves had 24 touches each.

Both Country and Metro finished the tournament with two wins and two losses. South Australia won the Championship, having gone undefeated in their four matches.

Walker and Wright are the only two Pioneers in the Victoria Country under-18 squad.

The Pioneers are currently 6-5 in their Coates Talent League season, with four rounds to play.
