Vital games on East, Moama greens
THERE will be crucial premier division contests on the Bendigo East and Moama greens when the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields pennant season resumes tomorrow (Saturday, January 18).
After an extensive break for Christmas and New Year, bowlers will be keen to strengthen their position or climb the ladder.
It’s fifth against sixth as Bendigo East takes on Marong in the Magpies’ nest in Lansell Street from 1.30pm.
Previous meeting in round two ended in a 13-shot win for the Magpies on Marong’s turf.
Key players for East include Paul Vlaeminck, Darren Burgess and Anna King.
The Marong line-up includes Mark Dickins, Nancy Tate and Graeme Fawcett.
Second faces third as Moama hosts Golden Square.
The Steamers won 87-70 on Square’s turf in round two.
Players to watch for Moama include Cameron Keenan, Cass Millerick and Alex Marshall.
The Bulldogs will look for big games from Andrew Brown, Bryce Young and Lachlan Darroch.
Fourth in the premiership race, Eaglehawk is at home against South Bendigo.
When they met in round two it was the Diggers who beat the Hawks by three shots.
Eaglehawk’s team includes Ken Rusbridge, Simon Carter and Phil Godkin.
Key players for South Bendigo include Brad Holland, Dale Oddy and Trevor Zimmer,
Kangaroo Flat faces a huge task at home against Bendigo.
Nine shots separated them in round two.
The Roos will look to Barry Hogan, Susan Howes and Paul Moller to bowl well against a Bendigo team which will have Brad Marron, Stephanie Priest and Ian Ross in action.
