GOLD is the goal for many of Athletics Bendigo Region’s rising stars in this weekend’s finale to the Victorian All Schools field and track championships.<\/p>\n
There are plenty of medal prospects from schools in central and northern Victoria at the meet being run at South Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium.<\/p>\n
The 200m, 800m, 3000m, hammer, javelin and pole vault shape as being where students from Bendigo South East, St Joseph’s Echuca, Girton Grammar, Weeroona College are likely to claim medals.<\/p>\n
After racing gold to the under-16 1500m on day one of the championships, Chelsea Tickell will represent Bendigo South East in the 800m.<\/p>\n
Dragons’ teammate Avery McDermid will be determined to go one better in the under-17 boys 800m after claiming silver in the 1500m duel.<\/p>\n
Another of BSE’s talented youngsters, Jordyn Lewis is flying high at pole vault and will be one to watch in the under-14 class.<\/p>\n
Scarlett Southern from St Joseph’s College Echuca ran brilliantly to be runner-up in the under-18 400m.<\/p>\n
This weekend the rising star from Eaglehawk Athletics Club will race the 200m.<\/p>\n
A gold medallist in the under-17 2000m steeplechase, Abbey Reid will race the 3000m for Girton Grammar.<\/p>\n
A highlight on the field will be Weeroona College’s Jasper Seymour and Kai Norton in the under-16 hammer.<\/p>\n
Seymour’s campaign began with silver in the under-16 discus and bronze at shot put.<\/p>\n
After fourth and fifth placings in the discus and shot put, Norton will be keen to perform well in the hammer and the javelin.<\/p>\n
Eliza Evans from Catherine McAuley College is in the under-16 discus field.<\/p>\n
A silver medallist in the 1500m for the under-15s, Tyler Fynch will represent Sacred Heart College Kyneton in the 3000m run.<\/p>\n
The Bendigo Senior SC Lions squad includes Jemma Norton and Fletch Watchman at hammer and 200m respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
