{"id":100256,"date":"2024-11-08T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-07T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=100256"},"modified":"2024-11-07T16:01:03","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T05:01:03","slug":"ev-fast-chargers-spark-up-in-marong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/ev-fast-chargers-spark-up-in-marong\/","title":{"rendered":"EV fast chargers spark up in Marong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW electric vehicle fast-charging stations have been switched on in Marong as part of the National EV Fast-Charging Network.<\/p>\n<p>Marong joins other recently opened sites including Wycheproof, Ouyen, Mildura and Ararat in Victoria, plus Port Pirie in South Australia and Mataranka in the Northern Territory.<\/p>\n<p>The network, which traverses major Australian highways, is being deployed by the National Roads and Motorists&#8217; Association via a $39.3 million Federal grant.<\/p>\n<p>NRMA members can take advantage of a discount at all charging stations.<\/p>\n<p>For example, chargers capable of up to 150 kilowatts cost $0.66c\/kWh for non-members and $0.60c\/kWh for members, and chargers capable of above 175 kilowatts are available at $0.71c\/kWh for non-members and $0.64c\/kWh for members.<\/p>\n<p>Federal Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters said the successful transition to more fuel-efficient cars relies on having this kind of infrastructure in place to support EV charging demand.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is particularly important in regional hubs like Bendigo, where a lack of infrastructure can have an impact on the purchasing decisions of people looking for a new car,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Having access to fast-chargers is one of the key concerns raised by industry and potential EV customers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These new fast-chargers are a game-changer for locals looking to reduce emissions while staying connected to other cities across the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government is aiming to install a fast charger every 150 kilometres on average on national highways.<\/p>\n<p>A map of the National EV Fast-Charging Network is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mynrma.com.au\/electric-vehicles\/charging\">NRMA website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW electric vehicle fast-charging stations have been switched on in Marong as part of the National EV Fast-Charging Network.
