{"id":101183,"date":"2024-12-24T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-23T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=101183"},"modified":"2024-12-19T22:47:28","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T11:47:28","slug":"tickets-on-sale-for-frida-showcase-drawcard-pieces-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/living\/tickets-on-sale-for-frida-showcase-drawcard-pieces-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Tickets on sale for Frida showcase, drawcard pieces announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TICKET sales have come online for Bendigo Art Gallery&#8217;s (BAG) much-anticipated Frida Kahlo exhibition, In her own image, which will open in March.<\/p>\n<p>Exclusive to BAG and direct from Mexico&#8217;s Museo Frida Kahlo, the iconic Self Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird (1940) will feature, on loan from the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Still Life with Parrot and Fruit (1951) is also coming Down Under, and some of the painter and illustrator&#8217;s original drawings, clothing and accessories, cosmetics and medical artefacts will be part of the showcase, having been stored in the bathroom of her family home for half a century.<\/p>\n<p>These pieces and the portrait have never been seen in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are so thankful to the Harry Ransom Center for lending the spectacular painting, which will be displayed for the first time alongside two special items from Kahlo&#8217;s home which appear in the painting, identified by the expert staff of La Casa Azul,&#8221; Bendigo Art Gallery director Jessica Bridgfoot said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_101189\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-101189\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-101189\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/12\/Cottonblousesatinski_06443_tn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"782\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/12\/Cottonblousesatinski_06443_tn.jpg 405w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/12\/Cottonblousesatinski_06443_tn-230x300.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-101189\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cotton blouse and satin skirt with floral motif embroidery.
