{"id":101512,"date":"2025-01-10T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-09T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=101512"},"modified":"2025-01-10T09:16:26","modified_gmt":"2025-01-09T22:16:26","slug":"much-more-to-come-for-summer-in-the-parks-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/much-more-to-come-for-summer-in-the-parks-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Much more to come for Summer in the Parks program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AFTER a popular series of events over the Christmas period, the Bendigo Summer in the Parks program is far from over, with a bunch of scheduled activities sure to keep the kids occupied.<\/p>\n<p>City of Greater Bendigo manager community partnerships Andie West said it&#8217;s been &#8220;wonderful&#8221; to see residents enjoying all that the program has to offer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The New Year&#8217;s Eve fireworks display and Christmas tree light up events had more than 2500 people attending,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The community Christmas carols were also well attended, with approximately 8000 people at the Bendigo event in Rosalind Park.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ms West said there&#8217;s still lots for families to enjoy for the remainder of the program, including Wild Kids Summer Splendour on 18 January at Crusoe Reservoir.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This will be a magical day celebrating the beauty of nature and the freedom of being wild,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will ignite a sense of adventure in your family, with loads of outdoor activities designed to bring the dirt back into childhood.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Locals can also have a go at baseball, one of the most popular sports in the world, on Wednesday 12 and Wednesday 26 February from 6pm to 8pm.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by Bendigo East Baseball Club at Quarry Hill Rec Reserve, attendees will have the chance to learn the basics of the sport, including how to correctly bat, throw, catch and base run. A free sausage sizzle and drinks will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s plenty of entertainment options too, including outdoor movie nights in Goornong tonight, Golden Square on 17 January and Heathcote on 31 January.<\/p>\n<p>Music in the Park events follow in February, with Axedale on 7 February, Marong on 14 February, Strathdale on 21 February and White Hills on 28 February.<\/p>\n<p>Ms West encouraged locals to take advantage of the range of free or low cost events available.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Summer in the Parks is the perfect excuse to pack up your family or get a group of friends together and have some fun in our great outdoors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Information including the program&#8217;s remaining events can be found on the <a href=\"http:\/\/bendigosummerintheparks.com\">Summer in the Parks website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AFTER a popular series of events over the Christmas period, the Bendigo Summer in the Parks program is far from over, with a bunch of scheduled activities sure to keep the kids occupied.
