THE Rotary Club of Rochester has announced a night of free musical entertainment at the town’s painted silos next month.<\/p>\n
Songs at the Silos will feature four Opera Australia singers, along with a local talent, from 6pm to 8.30pm on Saturday 8 March.<\/p>\n
The performers are Michael Lapina, Karen Van Spall, Adam Miller and Eleanor Blythman.<\/p>\n
Rising Rochester singer Evie Scoble has also been invited to appear.<\/p>\n
The Rotary club’s Heather Watson announced the show, saying it will be “a magical night.”<\/p>\n
“We are so excited to bring together such a talented group of artists to Rochester for this special evening,” Ms Watson said.<\/p>\n
“Songs at the Silos is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy live music in a unique setting.<\/p>\n
“We look forward to having opera in Rochester \u2013 this is going to be huge.”<\/p>\n
Ms Watson said the event is being supported by the Rochester Business Network; the Elmore, Lockington and Rochester Community Bank; and the Campaspe Shire Flood Recovery Program.<\/p>\n
“Council’s flood recovery program is generously funded by the state of Victoria through Emergency Recovery Victoria’s ‘Hubs’ program in response to the October 2022 flood event, which impacted Victorian communities in the Shire of Campaspe,” she said.<\/p>\n
“The Rotary Club of Rochester invites the community, near and far, to join them for this free event.”<\/p>\n
Songs at the Silos will be family friendly with an alcohol-free, smoke-free and pet-free environment, and people planning to attend are advised to take their own chairs and picnic blankets.<\/p>\n
Mum & Me Coffee will be present and the local Scouts, the Rochester Lions Club and the Rotary Club of Bendigo will offer food and drinks from just before the entertainment begins.<\/p>\n
The silos, owned by GrainCorp, were painted in 2018 by artist Jimmy Dvate and were the 22nd silos to be included in the Australian Silo Art Trail.<\/p>\n
