{"id":102733,"date":"2025-03-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-28T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=102733"},"modified":"2025-02-26T23:22:22","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T12:22:22","slug":"fresh-youth-council-in-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/fresh-youth-council-in-action\/","title":{"rendered":"Fresh Youth Council in action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE City of Greater Bendigo Youth Council has commenced its 2025-26 term with ten new and eight returning delegates.<\/p>\n<p>Levity Camilleri has been elected youth mayor while Alyssa Beaton and Bailey Dolan have been installed as deputies.<\/p>\n<p>Youth Cr Camilleri said they were incredibly grateful for the trust placed in them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m honoured to be working with such a driven and passionate group of young people,&#8221; they said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve gained so much more from Youth Council than I&#8217;ve contributed, and I look forward to the opportunity to give back to this community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>City of Greater Bendigo mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf welcomed both new and returning Youth Councillors and congratulated the new youth mayor and deputies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Youth Council is an initiative to engage with local young people in the City&#8217;s decision-making process for the future and council is again looking forward to working with the Youth Council in 2025.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In its six-year history the council has provided input into over 50 City plans, strategies, policies, and projects, including the Council Plan 2021-2025, the Zero Emissions Roadmap, the Biodiversity Strategy, the LGBTIQA+ Action Plan, the Fair Access Action Plan, the E-scooter trial, and the Managed Growth Strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Youth Councillors also co-designed and oversaw the development of the City&#8217;s Youth Action Plan.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, they&#8217;ve represented young people on several advisory committees including the Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration, the Arts and Creative Industries Advisory Committee, and the Heritage Advisory Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more at <a href=\"http:\/\/yobendigo.com.au\/city-of-greater-bendigo-youth-council\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">yobendigo.com.au\/city-of-greater-bendigo-youth-council<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE City of Greater Bendigo Youth Council has commenced its 2025-26 term with ten new and eight returning delegates.
