HARCOURT’s freshly renovated Blumes Historic Bakery has triumphantly reopened, with the installation of a brand new electric deck oven and prover promising an increase in both the quantity and variety of baked goods that will be available.<\/p>\n

Its original wood fired Scotch oven, known as Pearl, has been retained and the space surrounding it will be used for various community workshops and events.<\/p>\n

The line-up of items on the relaunched menu will highlight quality ingredients, slow fermentation and traditional baking methods aiming to honour the past while serving the present, and will include artisan breads, pastries and cakes.<\/p>\n

The renovations to the bakery building also included plumbing, plastering, painting and outdoor landscaping.<\/p>\n

Works were made possible by a $184,300 grant from the State Government.<\/p>\n

Owner Jodie Pillinger said the relaunch of the bakery is amazing for her business and the local region as well.<\/p>\n

“This bakery has been at the heart of the Harcourt community for over a century and thanks to this grant it has the opportunity to be around for another 100 years,” she said.<\/p>\n

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards said it’s great to see Blumes reopening – generating new employment and tourism opportunities in the area.<\/p>\n

“I congratulate Jodie, David and the whole team for the fantastic work they’ve done in transforming this bakery, and I know it will continue to be a much-loved meeting space for our community,” she said.<\/p>\n
