IT’S Friday night lights when the seventh round of the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s football competition kicks off tonight in Eaglehawk and Golden Square.<\/p>\n
Third in the premiership race, Eaglehawk will be on its home turf at Canterbury Park to take on Bendigo Thunder from 7.15pm.<\/p>\n
The Molly Metcalf-coached Hawks had the bye last round, which followed a 59-point win against Marong in Eaglehawk a fortnight ago.<\/p>\n
Players to watch for the Hawks include Lucy El Hage, Caitlin Evans, Emily Field, Emily Galtieri and Kelly Mensforth.<\/p>\n
It’s been a tough season for an inexperienced Bendigo Thunder team coached by Mick McInnes.<\/p>\n
The league’s two breeds of Bulldogs will play in tonight’s other match at Golden Square’s Wade Street Oval from 7pm.<\/p>\n
Second on the ladder, Golden Square is up against a North Bendigo team that has won its past two matches.<\/p>\n
Consecutive victories is a feat North Bendigo has not marked too often.<\/p>\n
A powerful Golden Square team coached by Carly Geary and Bec McLay has a five-one record and is brilliantly led by Liz Watkins.<\/p>\n
Best in the 69-point win against Marong in last Sunday’s Pink Round to support Breast Cancer Network Australia were Terina Pickering, Tanya Walsh, Mackenzie Bickley and Gemma Roberts.<\/p>\n
North Bendigo teamed well to score 111 points on Bendigo Thunder’s turf at Weeroona Oval.<\/p>\n
The North Bendigo team is coached by Jaydene Burzacott and Zak Carter.<\/p>\n
Round seven will be completed on Sunday when Sandhurst plays White Hills at Queen Elizabeth Oval from 1pm.<\/p>\n
Sandhurst is back in action after a bye, while the Phil Murley-coached White Hills had a tough test against the unbeaten Castlemaine at Camp Reserve.<\/p>\n
A two-two record has the Andrew Saladino and Liam Ireland-coached Sandhurst in fourth place on the ladder.<\/p>\n
