LONGER six-car trains will run during weekend services on the Bendigo line as part of the Victorian Government’s recently announced $52 million Budget 2025\/26 public transport blitz.<\/p>\n
The additional cars will be targeted at already busy services, with development underway to confirm the new timetable.<\/p>\n
Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards said the longer trains on the Bendigo line will mean families can enjoy better services to the city.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile her counterpart, Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan, said the move will allow more people to visit Melbourne.<\/p>\n
Other works slated as part of the blitz include additional peak services for the Seymour line in the morning and afternoon, giving passengers more options going to and from work.<\/p>\n
More services will also be introduced on the Traralgon line, made possible by the Gippsland Line Upgrade (which is nearing completion later this year).<\/p>\n
The Gippsland Line Upgrade includes improved stations, duplicated track to reduce delays, a new bridge over the Avon River in Stratford and the introduction of modern and accessible VLocity trains to travel to Bairnsdale.<\/p>\n
The boost to train services builds on the more than 2100 additional weekly services added across the regional and metropolitan train network over the past decade.<\/p>\n
The State Government claims that in every corner of the state, its Big Build funding is delivering crucial road and public transport connections, including upgrading every regional rail line to deliver more frequent and reliable services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
