SEVERAL City of Greater Bendigo-owned properties from its $577 million-plus real estate portfolio have been earmarked for potential sale.<\/p>\n

They include a small car park at the rear of the Long Gully Fish Shop in Eaglehawk Road, the old Lockwood Tennis Club at 519 Crusoe Road in Lockwood, Crown Allotment 10 in Huntly-Fosterville Road, as well as the Leichardt Hall and tennis courts in Cleary Road, Leichardt.<\/p>\n

A dwelling in Lona Close, Spring Gully, and a vacant lot in The Strand, Kennington, have also been included on the list.<\/p>\n

Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf said if any of the properties are eventually sold, proceeds would be set aside and used for future building or land improvements, or strategic land purchases.<\/p>\n

“As the population grows and the demographics of various areas change, there are different building and land needs,” she said.<\/p>\n

“In some areas there may be a requirement for new community or sporting facilities, or open space to meet needs, however in other areas buildings and open space may no longer be in use or be fit for purpose, or in some instances are adequately provided elsewhere.”<\/p>\n

As the City has a commitment to consult with residents in line with its Community Engagement Policy and the Local Government Act 2020, locals are invited to comment on whether the properties should be identified as surplus by Friday 20 June.<\/p>\n
