{"id":104928,"date":"2025-05-30T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-29T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=104928"},"modified":"2025-05-28T19:24:58","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T09:24:58","slug":"cheers-to-all-the-volunteers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/cheers-to-all-the-volunteers\/","title":{"rendered":"Cheers to all the volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A STRING of events celebrating the contribution of volunteers to the local community took place around Bendigo last week as part of National Volunteer Week 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Greater Bendigo hosted about 100 of its volunteers at a morning tea at Ulumbarra Theatre, with mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf saying it was a wonderful opportunity to recognise their vital contributions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are incredibly fortunate to have such a passionate and dedicated group, many of whom have been with us for years,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year&#8217;s Volunteer Week theme, &#8216;Connecting Communities&#8217;, truly reflects the power of volunteering to bring people together.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Volunteering fosters meaningful relationships, enriches lives, and builds a sense of connection and belonging.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Through these connections, our volunteers play a key role in creating inclusive and thriving communities.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2025\/05\/VW1_74783.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"306\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters joined local civic leaders and volunteers at the Long Gully Neighbourhood Centre last week.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We couldn&#8217;t achieve all that we do without them.
